WSU Names Shelley Pressley to Lead Undergraduate Research for the University College
Civil engineer Shelley N. Pressley is the new director of the campus-wide Undergraduate Research Program in the University College at Washington State University.
Pressley succeeds materials scientist David F. Bahr, the inaugural head of the program since 2006, who will now be the director of the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Architecture. More>>

Thirty-four Undergraduates Awarded Auvil Scholars Fellowships at WSU

Nearly 70 researchers from as near as Montana and Idaho and as far away as Pennsylvania, New York, and Puerto Rico traveled to Pullman this summer to conduct research with 60 renowned scientists and engineers at Washington State University. Four Students Land WSU Undergraduate Research Symposium Awards
Top awards for the annual WSU Undergraduate Research Symposium went to four students in 2010. Dave Bahr, director of Undergraduate Research, a unit of the University College, announced that "Crimson" ($500) award recipients are Kara Mowery, a senior history major in the Honors College, and Kathryn Nealey, a senior psychology and Spanish double major. Recipients of Gray ($250) awards are Leah Jordan, a senior genetics and cell biology and music double major with a minor in biology, and Gianne Souza, a junior microbiology major in the Honors College. The topics of theiroral presentations ranged from gene splicing to women pioneers in the American West, and from trumpet players' body alignment to drugs to combat negative effects of alcohol withdrawal.
