Writing Placement Testing
Evaluating Freshman Writing Skills
All entering freshmen are required to demonstrate their readiness for college-level writing. Through testing, they will show if they are ready to learn the characteristics of academic writing (e.g. focus, organization, support, and proofreading). The purpose of the freshman writing tests are to match students' writing abilities to the first year writing courses at WSU.
Incoming freshmen will take the Writing Placement Exam.
Students admitted to the Honors College will take the Honors College Writing Diagnostic.
